I came to Fitness Connexion in May 2011 on the 16 day free trial and immediately knew this was going to be the gym for me. What appealed to me was the cleanliness of the facility and the friendly environment. From the moment I walked through the door, I felt welcomed and more importantly, I felt comfortable. As a person with weight issues, it can be intimidating to go to the gym and work out. Not once did I feel intimidated at Fitness Connexion. The gym was filled with great ladies from all shapes and sizes.
I started my weight loss journey by jumping on the cardio equipment I felt comfortable with, the treadmill and elliptical machine. After about a month or two, I decided I needed to push myself beyond my comfort zone so I started to attend some of the fitness classes. I started with Group Power because it forced me to get in the weight lifting workouts I needed to build strong muscles and supplement my running. Next, I tried Group Kick. Group Kick is my favorite class because it makes me strong and I leave class with a sense of empowerment. More recently, I decided to give Group Ride a try. I added Group Ride to my weekly workout schedule for a great cardio workout and I use Group Ride as a cross trainer for my running.
It has been 9 months since I joined Fitness Connexion and it has definitely changed my life. I have lost over 100 pounds by attending Group Power, Group Kick, and Group Ride classes in addition to running about 15-20 miles per week. I have to thank the staff at Fitness Connexion, along with the members, for their support and words of encouragement. This is one of the reasons I keep coming back day after day, along with my determination to finish my journey. I WILL make fitness a lifelong commitment.
